These spicy vegetable patties are delicious! And there healthy! Made with 100% vegan ingredients. Great for a snack on the go!. We have put a twist to the traditional authentic jamaican patties by tweeking the ingredients for a more healthier taste, And trust us it taste just as good!

 

 Spicy Vegetable Patties

  • 3 cups Organic unbleached Flour
  • 1 tsp Sea salt
  • 5 tbsp. Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp.  Vegan Butter
  • 2 tbsp.  Vegan Shortening
  •  1 tbsp. Vegan soy sauce
  • 1 cup ice cold water
  • 1 cup diced mixed peppers
  • 1 cup of diced carrots and swede
  • 6 cloves garlic (chopped)
  • 3 scotch bonnet peppers (chopped)
  • 5 chopped spring onions
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 tbsp. black pepper
  • 1 tbsp. all spice
  • 1 tbsp. thyme
  • 2 tbsp. paprika
  • 1tbsp cumin
  • ½ cup vegetable stock
  • Soya milk
  • ½ cup cup chopped tomatoes
  1. Firstly Civ 3 cups of Organic unbleached flour into a bowl and add 1 tsp. sea salt and 5 tbsp. Turmeric and mix together.
  2. Then add 1 stick of butter (vegan) and 1 stick of vegan shortening and mix together until it forms crumbly texture
  3. Then gradually add ice cold water to the mixture and mix until it forms a dough.
  4. Then roll your dough into a ball and put in Clingfilm and put into the fridge for 60 mins.
  5. Vegetable filling
  6. On high heat add 1 tbsp. olive oil to your frying pan and add 1 cup of diced onion, 2 chopped cotch bonnet peppers, and 6 chopped garlic cloves and cook for 2 mins.
  7. Then add Black pepper, All-spice and paprika, cumin, thyme and mix together
  8. Then add Spring onions, carrots and swede, mixed peppers and mix together
  9. Then add ½ cup vegetable stock and mix together and cook for a minute.
  10.  Then ½ cup of chopped tomato and mix together. And add vegan soy sauce.
  11. Simmer for 5 minutes and set aside.
  12. After 1 hour take your dough out of the fridge. Place some flour on the surface and roll out your dough flat and fold over 2-3 times.
  13. Finally roll out your dough flat and smooth and sprinkle some flour over it.
  14. Then use a medium size bowl and print the shape in the dough and cut round carefully (cut out as many as you can)
  15. Optional- use soy milk to around edges of Pattie to secure dough
  16. Then use a spoonful and a half of vegetable filling and centre it in the middle of the Pattie carefully.
  17. Then carefully fold over the Pattie to the over end, use your finger to secure the Pattie, Then use a fork to lock the Pattie imprinting the fork print. (Also use your fork to print the centre for air)
  18. Carefully place patties on a baking tray and put into a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees for 25 minutes until golden brown. (Soft on the outside)
  19. Let the patties rest for 30 minutes then serve.
