Jamaican Air fryer dumplings
Welcome to Jamaican Air Fryer series — where we test Jamaican classics in the air fryer and see how they come out.
Today we’re making fried … dumplings.
Normally dumplings get fried in oil, but today we’re trying them in the air fryer to see if we can still get that golden outside and soft inside.
- 250g self raising flour
- 1 tbsp. Brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp. Unsalted melted butter
- 1 tsp. Vegetable oil
- 125ml water
- Vegetable oil spray for air fryer
1.In a large bowl, add the self-raising flour, sugar and salt and mix together.
2.Pour in the melted butter and vegetable oil, then rub lightly into the flour.
3.Gradually add the water and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead gently for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
4.Divide the dough into 6-8 equal pieces and roll each into a small oval dumpling shape.
5.Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil and place the dumplings inside, leaving space between each one.
6.Air fry at 190°C for 12–15 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown on the outside and cooked through.
7.Remove from the air fryer and allow them to rest for a few minutes before serving.
