The best Caribbean on the go meal in the whole world! you won’t find any better! we call Patties the life of the party, and with these cheesy beef patties you’ll have all your family and friends loving you. the pastry is golden with its turmeric flava and the cheesy beef inside is just so delicious.

  • 450g Self raising flour
  • 2 tbsp. any sugar
  • 1 tsp. sea salt
  • 3 tbsp. turmeric or curry powder
  • 30g chilled butter
  • 30g shortening or lard
  • 225ml cold water
  • milk or beaten egg for brushing
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 500g mince beef
  • processed sliced cheese (optional)
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 beef stock cubes 125ml water
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. ground pimento
  • 1 tbsp. flour or breadcrumbs
  • 2 tsp. browning or soy sauce

Pre heat your oven at 180 degrees.

firstly sieve in your flour into a bowl, sugar, salt, turmeric then stir with a spoon. add chilled butter shortening or lard then crumble in with hands. Add cold water and stir in with spoon then knead into a large round golden ball of dough. then cover and chill for 1 hour.

Now in a frying pan add some vegetable on a medium heat then add onion, scotch bonnet then caramelise for a few minutes. now add beef mince stir and brown for 5 minutes and add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, pimento and flour, soy sauce or browning and beef stock stir in and cook for 20 minutes on a low heat then simmer then set aside and cool down.

Now get your patty dough out of the fridge, sprinkle some flour on the work surface and divide your dough in 6-8 quarters, roll them out and fold twice. Add a cereal bowl on the dough and cut out with a knife like a stencil. brush on a beaten egg or milk around the edges of the circle then add your beef into the centre of the dough, followed by 1 sliced of cheese cut into two. then fold over to the overside and crimp with a fork, then add 3 holes in the centre of the parry with a fork, this will help it cook inside. brush the patty with some of the beaten egg, then place on a lined baking tray and cook for unto 30 minutes pm 180 degrees. until golden brown, then cool down.
