This is definitely a family favourite, Everyone one loves curry goat. It was cooked almost every week in our family. The Curry flavours and spice were amazing!. What do you eat your goat with? white rice or Rice and peas? we always go for white rice as it complements the dish nicely. Follow our easy Curry goat recipe!
Curry Goat
3-4lbs Goat mutton
4 Carrots (Sliced)
3 Large baking potatoes (cubed)
1 large onion (Diced)
4 Garlic cloves (Crushed)
Fresh Thyme
2 Spring onions
4 tbsp. Curry powder
1 tbsp. Salt
1tbsp. Black pepper
1 tsp. Ginger
1 tsp. Pimento
1 tsp. Paprika
1 scotch bonnet pepper
400ml Coconut milk
250ml water
Firstly wash your meat with Lemon, Vinegar and water.
Then season with salt, pepper, 4tbsp. curry powder, pimento and paprika mix then marinate overnight or at least 2hrs.
Use a large Dutch pot and add 4 tbsp. of vegetable oil and turn on high heat, then add garlic, onions and spring onions then sauté until soft.
Add 2 tbsp. of curry powder and burn curry for a few minutes then add ginger.
Then add a little coconut milk or water and mix until you make a thick curry paste.
Add goat meat to your pot and cook until brown.
Then add 2 cups of water and and some more curry powder, Fresh Thyme, Scotch bonnet and cook for 1.5 hours stirring every 15 minutes until goat meat is tender and falling off the bone
Then add potatoes and carrots and cook for further 15 minutes until soft.
