We’ve added a Caribbean twist to this delicious burger, made from smashed black beans and plantain and spices. Make sure you use ripe plantains as they’re more sweeter. Try this juicy Plant based burger a go!

  • 2 tbsp. Coconut oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 ripe plantain
  • 400g black beans
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 scotch bonnet pepper.
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tsp chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 250g flour or oats
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 4 burger buns
  • Shredded lettuce or cabbage
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced avocado
  • Sweet chilli sauce

Cook down onions for 5 mins until caramelised then set aside.

Grab a mixing bowl and add mash down plantains and add drained black beans and mix together, season with salt, pepper, scotch bonnet, thyme, parsley, paprika and garlic. Then add caramelised onions. Add oats or flour and a likkle lime juice then mix everything together until you form a thick consistency.

Divide mixture into 4-6 burger shapes then place in fridge for a few hours to set

Once ready to cook, heat up your pan and cook burgers for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Now create your burger!!
